Every family is in a different place when it comes to their approach to the pandemic, and our role, as always, is to meet students where they need us, whether that’s in person or behind a computer.
As of June 8, 2020, we are offering tutoring sessions online, at home, or in our Office. Obviously, masks are required for both tutor and student for in-person tutoring sessions and we ask everyone to wash their hands at the beginning and end of each tutoring session. You can read more about Massachusetts requirements for tutoring in the reopening plan here (scroll to 'Non close contact personal services'): https://www.mass.gov/news/reopening-massachusetts-baker-polito-administration-initiates-transition-to-second-phase-of
Diagnostic & Mock Exams are also available to take either at home, with a prerecorded video proctor, or in-person at our Office, with the same Mask and hand washing requirements and recommendations as for our tutoring sessions. students will face during their real exams. This is also how students will be taking their real tests for the foreseeable future, so we think practicing with these restrictions is essential.
Students at Mock Exams will sit the exam in cubicle-style seating with dividers in between. Cubicle desks and chair armrests will be wiped down with Chlorox-brand wipes before and after each student's use. We currently run Mock Exams a maximum of once per week, so 7 days will elapse between successive students using the same testing cubicle. A photograph of the seating arrangement is below and current guidance from Massachusetts governing testing centers is here:https://www.mass.gov/info-details/safety-standards-and-control-plan-occupational-schools-and-testing-centers
Students should bring their own calculators, pencils, and watches (we recommend each student wear a digital watch in Mock exams & the real test) as we will not be able to lend items to students at this time.
On the day of the Mock Exam, please plan to enter the building 15 minutes prior to your exam start time, as entering earlier or later can make social distancing more challenging. Please plan to head to the restroom immediately after entering the building and before leaving the building in order to wash your hands. Parents, please make sure your child understands our arrival time, mask, and hand-washing instructions above, so there will be less for us to explain on test day.
