Tutoring with us begins with a conversation. What are your student's goals, strengths and challenges? What kind of teachers have they worked best with in the past? When is the right time to begin? The Program Manager you speak with will be an equity partner in the firm, with more than a decade of experience, and will continue with you for the length of your tutoring program.
Test preparation then proceeds with a full-length Mock Exam — a real test form, professionally proctored in our Office. Academic support proceeds with a review of the student’s recent work. In either case, our commitment is to look beyond the numbers to see what’s really driving your student’s current performance. We use this data as well as input from you to craft an individualized tutoring program that is best suited to your student’s unique needs.
Once the tutoring program begins, student and tutor meet weekly to execute the plan through one-on-one tutoring sessions, homework, and practice tests. Every student's tutoring sessions are different, reflecting individualized strategies that focus on each student’s goals, strengths and weaknesses. Homework assignments give students the opportunity to practice their new skills, and proctored practice tests allow students realistic oportunities to put them into practice. Throughout, your Program Manager and your student's Tutor continue to work together to assess progress and make sure your student knows exactly what needs to happen to achieve his or her goal and to help ensure that it does.
Teaching academic content and general test strategies is the easy part of what we do. Getting to the heart of what's holding each student back and how to change it is the more difficult, rewarding, and powerful one. We do the yeoman's work of trying to understand our students deeply, revise our plan and approaches in light of what we learn along the way, and help mold the beliefs and behaviors that will best serve each of them.
